The original Defibtech AED includes all mission critical features necessary to provide the most advanced treatment for Sudden Cardiac Arrest. It is so simple and unintimidating to use that even non-medical personnel can effectively save lives.

What are Defibrillators (AED’s) used for?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AED’s are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). SCA is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.

Defibrillators in your workplace and the Law?

The provision of automated external defibrillators (AED’s) in workplaces to prevent sudden cardiac death should be considered. The Health & Safety Guidelines states that early defibrillation using an AED is one of the vital links in the “chain of survival”.

Ideally, wherever there is an occupational first-aider(s) in a workplace, provision of an AED should be considered. The training of other employees in the workplace in the use of AED’s is also encouraged by the HSA.

Shared AED it may be practicable and desirable to have an AED in every workplace, different employers at the same location, such as in shopping centres and small business enterprise centres (SME’s), it may be feasible to co-operate in the provision of shared AED equipment, training and assistance.

Note: Regular refresher training is also recommended.
