Manual Handling Course Online

im19

Health and Safety Authority (HSA) statistics reveal an alarming picture surrounding manual handling in Ireland. In recent years, it has proved to be the single most common trigger of non-fatal injuries across the country. Manual handling injuries vary in severity ranging from strains and sprains to the more serious bone dislocations and fractures. Of all 9,335 non-fatal accidents reported to the HSA last year, nearly one third of them were manual handling and falls related.

It is clear from these statistics that the most effective way to deal with incorrect manual handling is public awareness through education. As a result of numerous injuries across Ireland, the Irish Government found it a necessity for legislation to be introduced to protect employees, employers and the general public. This was carried out with the introduction of ‘The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, (General Applications) Regulations’ in 2007.

This manual handling course online, which is in line with the latest Irish legislation, provides candidates with the knowledge and understanding of key issues including learning safe handling habits, practical manual handling solutions and also the use of mechanical aids.

Please Note: While our online manual handling training is an informative tool and may be used as standalone training, it is important to note that practical manual handling training may still be required in certain workplaces. Such workplaces include employees that use any workplace specific handling equipment, control measures identified after a local or in-house Manual Handling Risk Assessment, etc.
